SISTERHOOD ALLIANCES

In line with the principles of Lions Clubs International aimed at promoting global understanding, the Lions Club of George Town Mutiara (LCGTM) has been actively cultivating friendships across borders since its establishment in 1988.

The journey began in 1989 with its inaugural sister club, the Lions Club of Hatyai Central in Thailand, initiated through the efforts of  Charter President Danny Lim and Past President Anthony Goh. Unfortunately this club became defunct due to a major flood and the relocation of its members, it marked the beginning of LCGTM’s international relationships.

Driven by strong Lionistic spirit despite having limited resources, LCGTM proceeded to forge sister club connections with:

Lions Club of Singapore Fort Canning (1994)

Lions Club of Medan Raya, Indonesia (1995)

Lions Club of Petaling Jaya Metro (1997)

Lions Club of Kota Budaya (1999)

These alliances were built on both fellowship and service. Members and their families enjoyed numerous memorable visits, often traveling together to celebrate anniversaries and reinforce their connections.

More importantly, these relationships led to impactful joint projects.

LCGTM’s Sister Clubs' journey embodies the genuine essence of Lionism—service, unity, and friendship across nations.

LCGTM, LCMR, and LCPJM had a joint project at the Panti Asuhan Kemuliaan Anak Bangsa, to support the children survivors of the devastating tsunami that struck on December 26, 2004. We are proud that Lions Clubs of Medan Raya has provided them a renewed sense of life. The children rendered us a song and many of our Lions were moved to tears.
